Hey Dodger! A little while ago you said you were trying to brush up on your French. Have you considered reading French-language comicbooks? There's a bunch of great series from France/Belgium, such as Tin tin, Asterix, Spirou, Gaston etc. Real timely now that you are back from Belgium I know, only thought of this just now. -.-
I actually have bought a few different manga in French before! I’ve never read actual French comics but I’ve heard that some of them are written for children so it’s much easier for a new speaker/reader to work through it. Right now my French skills are severely lacking so I doubt I could make it through much but I know that reading books and watching TV in the language you’re trying to learn does wonders so I’ll check those out :D
I typed in “french gif” and it gave me the option of this or porn so enjoy.
I know that you said that you started being a cat person when your last dog died because no dog could ever be as awesome as he was. But do you think that you will get a dog at some point in your life? Maybe when you start a family? I think that you can have a greater connection with a dog than cats. My dog can read my emotions by looking me in the eyes. Maybe a pet fox?
After growing up with dogs and living as an adult with cats I can honestly say that the connection I have with each is equal but very different.
Where dogs are energetic in their neediness, cats are quietly insistent with it. A dog will look you in the eyes and you’ll see a sparkle somewhere in there. A cat will look you in the eyes and you’ll see it study you endlessly.
I love dogs and I definitely want a dog someday when I can give it a nice big yard to play in but unlike a few years ago, I see that future home with cats in it too <3
Hey, Dodger. In your most recent Coffeh, or Teh to be exact, you said you were growing your hair out again. But I'm pretty sure I remember you saying after you cut it that you hated your hair when it was long. And jmo you looked awesome with that short haircut. Why are you going back to long hair again?
It’s actually been since I’ve started getting my hair done by someone every morning. I’ve never been good with hair. I have no idea what to do with it except dye it but having someone show me how to do different things with it has made me wish it was longer again because I’ll actually know how to style it.
Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE it short and I’ll definitely cut it short again once I’m sick of it long but I’m just a super fickle person about hair. At the time when I cut it, I hated it and felt like it added to a lack of confidence I was going through.
If it starts to feel that way again, I’ll cut it again. I don’t really worry about it haha. It’s just hair <3 I can cut it whenever I want! FWAFWAFWA
HELP HOW NECESSARY IS THE SPRAY COAT ON THE SKYRIM COASTERS? I ask because here in Oregon (represent) I've had real problems getting that stuff to dry solid and not be tacky forever. Would the mod podge not be sealant enough? I'm making these with snowflakes on them for family christmas so it's kinda important KTHX.
HELL YEAH OREGON REPRESENT
(sorry I just love that gif)
Okay so mod podge is weird in that it (technically) takes a month for it to fully cure. Because of that it’s suggested you never put really hot or really cold (mostly really hot) things on just straight up modpodge. The spray coat is there as a barrier between your cup/mug/whatevs so you can use it the day after you make it and not worry too much. If you can just leave it to cure for at least a week or more, it should be fine.
That’s weird that the spray coat is acting poop. Maybe it’s a temperature problem? Either way, I think if you can just let them chill out for a few days, you don’t need the spray coat :)
So I've heard you pronounce "Oregon" several times, and was wondering, have I been wrong my whole 23 years of existence when I pronounced it "Ore-eh-gon" instead of "Ore-eh-gin?" Maybe its an mid-west US dialect thing? I'm from Chicago... or I'm dumb?
Oh man yeah I’ll be straight with you on this. The two main ways to pronounce Oregon that will make Oregonians cringe is “Or-ee-gon” and “Or-eh-gon”. Our local news station specifically seeks out people that say it “Or-ee-gon” to make the locals freak out it’s kind of hilarious.
I’m not about to say that it’s actually a wrong pronunciation because hey, we all have different accents BUT I will say that the native Oregon pronunciation is “Or-eh-gin” :)
A few weeks ago my japanese class did a gift exchange with our penpal class in japan and their box of stuff came in today. All of the gifts had really cute messages on yellow notes. This one was my favorite..
Hi Dodger, quick TF2 question. What is your favourite character? And what is your favourite team, Blu or Red?
I like being on team BLU and attacking rather than defending, specifically in Payload. I’ve clocked far too many hours as Heavy, second most as Pyro and third most as Scout. My favorite character in the Valve shorts is probably AllOfThem but Pyro is the most interesting character overall to me <3
Since you loved Ros&Guil Are Dead I'm wondering if you've ever watched/read Samuel Beckett's "Waiting for Godot"? Its just as amazing as R&G in my opinion. Both are arguably tied for my favourite plays of all time! I highly suggest it from one R&G lover to another! :)
Man plays are just incredible aren’t they? There are a few that I still read every year like clockwork and marvel at all the layers and elements of storytelling that can come through with only dialogue.
I do really love Waiting for Godot. I think what keeps me from loving it as much as I love Ros&Guil is how much we studied it in college, actually.
Some of you may not know but I went to college to study theater. I took every design class, almost every acting class, and a series of history classes focused entirely on Theatre regarding not only plays and playwrights but also theory and all that jazz.
Oh goodness I also just remembered I took a class called “Theatre and Quantum Physics.” Not even about to go into what that class was like.
I say all this not to be like I KNOW ALL THE THINGS ABOUT THEATRE OKAY but to say…Waiting for Godot is an amazing play by an amazing man and because of that, it is used a lot in teaching, especially when discussing the way that art can overlap with science/philosophy/physics etc etc.
If you’ve never read it, you absolutely should. You should also read Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead because it’s another play that explores something you might not catch immediately.
Actually now I just want to make a Top 10 Plays video because omg plays are magical.
Ok so this is something I've been thinking a lot about. What happens If Youtube were to ever fall under (unlikely but hypothetically speaking), Is this something you've ever thought about and if so, is there a contingency plan in place? What's the life span of a Youtuber's career in an increasingly changing world? Discuss.
Every YouTuber should be thinking about this. For the ones making a LOT it could be as simple as “oh I’ve got extra dollars. I should give myself the equivalent of a salary and then save the rest just in case.”
I’m not assuming that this is going to last forever. I’m sure, like many YouTubers, there will come a time where I see a steep decline and have to redirect my efforts.
Before I got into YouTube and moved to LA, I was fully mentally prepared to be a starving artist serving coffee and working at random theaters. I still have a lot of love for that world and for the work I was doing so I could go back to that and be happy :)
In a perfect world, I’ll be able to save enough that I can start a coffee shop and comic book store. That’s been something I’ve wanted to do down the road for a long time and, providing I’m able to do well enough now, I’ll have the money to make it a reality one day.
Those are the plans. One for Broke!Dodger and one for MoneyToBurn!Dodger :D
I am so sorry for the spam of reblogs I'm sure I left as I browsed 50 pages of this blog. My boyfriend watches Polaris quite often, and I must say you're one of my favorites. Since I am also part of the Sherlock fandom, I guess my question would be how are you dealing with the wait for season three now that it's very soon?
Thank you!! Don’t worry I appreciate all the reblogs.
Waiting for Season 3 is a lot easier now that it’s so close and we have an actual release date. In the meantime I just put on the old episodes when I’m cleaning or cooking and then usually wind up looking at everyone’s Reichenbach theories and not actually cleaning very much. Oops.
I can only hope it’s not going to be as ridiculous as the explanation was at the end of the Testament of Sherlock Holmes game. I gave a massive fisheye to that.
Anywho, thanks for hanging out! Tell your boyfriend hi :D
Dodger its 3:09, I gotta wake up for school at 6:30 and I'm not sleepy at all. Any advice?
Whenever I can’t sleep, I grab a book that I have no interest in reading and that usually does the trick.
Other common helpful thing-a-lings are stuff like lavender smells and drinking warm water but I can’t attest to their effectiveness.
If you’re lying awake thinking about everything you need to do or worrying about stuff (BEEN THERE), it always helped me to pick a TV show and imagine the worst possible way the series could end. I promise you’ll giggle a little and feel better and then hopefully fall into a happy slumber :)
Is there no way Polaris can give you the time to edit your own videos? The person doing the editing can hugely affect the outcome of a video and I fear it won't be the same if someone else edits things like Newz and Q&A. Pewdiepie and Friends, for example, sucked at first due to the terrible editing but it got a lot better once they made some changes and toned it down. The personality of the editor really shows in the videos they edit and it can affect the feel of a show quite significantly.
It’s true! The editor makes a HUGE difference but keep in mind a project like “Pewds & Frands” was no one’s passion project. It had no starting point to build from and it had no singular person who was invested in its feel and tone like I would be.
The problem is not Polaris. It’s a job I enjoy and they are far more accommodating to my channel’s health than any other job would be. I think it’s easy to blame them because I’ve been making changes since I took the job but the changes have made me happier and that counts for a lot.
The problem is my ambition. Most people don’t have the intention to make more than two videos per day (and insist on doing it alone) like I intend to but this is also not conducive to a control freak. I film things and by the next day I hate them and throw out the footage. I sit down to edit and can’t figure out how to make something work so I get anxious and stop.
If I’m going to finally throw my heart and soul into projects…

I need someone efficient but more than anything I need a second set of eyes to put me at ease and I promise when I tackle that process, I will find someone who understands my style and doesn’t turn it into a technicolor font-filled nightmare.
